HAPPY BIRTHDAY FT (if you are looking for Amy Childs, indulge in some culture then scroll down)

The Financial Times were the first paper to start giving me work when I went freelance and as such hold a special place in my heart. This week saw them celebrate their 125th anniversary, this was special for me not only for the reasons above but simply because it is great to see a paper celebrate a long life and to be part of that.  With that said you can imagine how pleased I was to be invited to shoot pictures for their anniversary celebrations. So it was that I was up early in the morning I travel off to Potters Field to see the launch of the FT hot air balloon. It being 6.15 not only was it freezing cold but I could see very little other than Tower Bridge. However as the balloon blown open and with the help of a very powerful flash things started to come together.

However pleased as I was with my initial shots as they got the burners going and the whole balloon lit up in the early morning light we realised we had our shot.

I can only hope that I have done this venerable institution justice and that in an industry that is constantly under threat that there are many more years to come.
